Worldwide Holdings Berhad (WHB), is a Selangor state-linked company, active in property development, environment management, energy, medical devices manufacturing, project management & green technology and investment activities.

No stranger to the energy business, WHB intends to grow its thermal and renewable energy generation business to more than 2,000MW by 2025. The Group is a known player in the sector, it holds a 25% stake in Kuala Langat Power Plant, a 720 MW CCGT power plant and its capabilities in the Renewable Energy sector is reflected through its advanced and award-winning Landfill Gas (LFG) Plants in its sanitary landfill site in Jeram and Puchong, Selangor.

THE TECHNICAL PARTNER

To expand their green energy portfolio, WHB is also actively involved in developing Malaysia’s first Integrated Solid Waste Management Centre, Renewable Energy business such as hydro, solar and NEM, and Waste- to- Energy plants. WHB owns 75% shareholding in PIPP.

Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) is a vertically integrated utility company in South Korea involved in generation, transmission and distribution, directly and indirectly owned by the South Korean government (51%).

KEPCO is a Fortune Global 500 company which is listed on KOSPI and NYSE. PIPP is their maiden project in Malaysia. KEPCO owns 25% shareholding in PIPP.

THE BUILDERS

PIPP will be built by a consortium comprising of

POSCO Engineering & Construction CO. Ltd (POSCO E&C)

Mitsubishi Corporation (Mitsubishi)

South Korean POSCO E&C, subsidiary of POSCO, will lead the consortium in terms of engineering and procurement except for Power Block equipment, which will be undertaken by Mitsubishi, and the Gas Turbine technology by General Electric Company (GE).

Established in 1994, POSCO E&C is one of the major players in the construction sector in the world, ranking at number 54 on the Top Global Contractors list by Engineering News Record in 2018.

Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) is a global integrated business enterprise that develops and operates businesses together with its offices and subsidiaries in approximately 90 countries and regions worldwide.

GE is a world energy leader providing equipment, solutions and services across the energy value chain from generation to consumption. GE’s rich power generation history includes more than 60 years of supplying gas turbine technology.
